I’d like to preface this all with a statement that I am documenting literally all of the girl group songs I have on my kpop playlist. I promise I try to get into girl groups but I really can’t. I might like one song or one comeback album but for a group to consistently keep my attention is difficult.

Therefore, I’m much more of a boy group stan as I find getting into them and their music much easier. For comparison, my playlist has an overall total of 1544 songs and just a fraction of that is girl group songs. Please do enjoy the odd few of them I do listen to though

anyway, let’s get to it!!!

4minute — canvas ,

hate, blind, crazy

as a lot of other boy group stans find, I think it’s easier for me to enjoy to girl group songs that have more of a stronger style. I feel like 4minute is a perfect of example of a style I really enjoy. The beats in the songs above give me more of a rnb or hiphop vibe than other more common girl group songs.

i feel like each 4minute song is instrumentally interesting and hard hitting, and I really like listening to the ones on my playlist.

i when ‘’ came out and everyone was talking about it, and i thought to myself that I might as well check it out. I’m happy I did because I really enjoyed it!

i would kind of relate it to 4minute, both being groups that I feel rely on their power and sensual abilities as singers. It’s very easy to get into songs like these.

aoa — heart attack

excuse me, bing bing, feeling, can’t sleep, melting love, good luck

now this is the beginning of songs that contradict my overall appeal to hard hitting girl group songs. aoa as a group is a group I actually really enjoy and I make sure to check out their music whenever they have a comeback.

’heart attack’ actually used to be one of my favorite songs. It’s more of the upbeat, happiness style that people relate to girl group music, but I don’t find anything wrong about it. It’s a very very very freaking fun song. I legit can’t get it out of my head whenever I hear it.

as for the rest of their music, I feel that aoa spans a good variety of styles which I think is always very important. Overall, I really like them.

April — oh! my mistake

now this song came out of left field. I would literally have never looked into April if not for Tilli. They commented on one of my polls about this song and I had no expectations going into it, but it’s so freaking catchy like for what I normally usually listen to it’s hard to believe that I enjoy this song but it’s so good!! It’s so much fun. I really like it.

Blackpink — playing with fire

as if it’s your last, whistle, boombayah, stay, ddu-du-ddu-du, forever young, really

like aoa, blackpink is one of the girl groups that I would say I actually follow. I really do enjoy their music. They stray away from the sweet and upbeat style of April which is what I’m more accustomed to with girl group music but I always have exceptions.

blackpink always has such interesting beats and they’re usually pretty catchy. I really do think they share amazing songs

BoA — everybody knows

first off, BoA is a legit queen. I don’t stan but she’s iconic love her.

second, I would say the vibe of this song is kinda similar to 4minute’s ‘canvas’, which I’ve I said is a sound that I can get into easily. I can really vibe with rnb-styled songs.

Brave Girls — deepended

okay so listen

this song is single handedly my favorite song by a girl group like it’s perfect, amazing, stunning, mind blowing, astonishing, absolutely ideal, like wow brave girls did that.

i found this song after jre posted his faves of 2016 or something and I was shook. I was like how did I not know this song existed????

everything from the instrumental to the vocals and rap is just crazy. Like wow. I don’t really have another way to say it.

its just so edgy, idk, I love it 10/10

Chungha — why don’t you know

okay I gotta say, BOP

ever since this song came out, it’s been played a billion times over summer. It’s just has the perfect summer vibe. Like I blast this driving down the road all the freaking time. I bet I could listen to it forever and not get bored.

as far as her other songs go, I enjoy her title tracks but have yet to get fully into her music. I really enjoy chung ha though and I’d say that I follow her work quite well. She’s very talented and I appreciate her. Her type of music kinda reminds me of Sunmi, but idk maybe I’m weird

CL — hello b*tches

arguably, one of the most iconic songs, in my mind. Like how could a list of songs be complete without CL??

this was probably the first female artist song that I was really interested in. The beat just goes to hard. It’s hard to not get such a large amount of confidence and pride while listening to really any song that CL releases.

Dalshabet — fri.sat.sun

ngl, I’ve had a running love-hate relationship with song. Like it’s a bop but sometimes it gets on my nerves??? None the less it’s on my playlist in hopes it comes one when I’m vibing with it.

honestly, the chorus is just very catchy and once you’ve listened to it, it’ll probably be stuck in ur head all day.

EXID — how why

okay so,

I could have sworn I had a lot more exid songs on my playlist but apparently not. I think even though I can recognize a lot of their songs are good songs none of them are type of songs I necessarily like or listen to. Like I can enjoy an exid song if I saw a mv but I wouldn’t choose to listen to it, does that make sense???

as for this song though, I really like the beat and the chorus and then the instrumental break omg yes.

Favorite — fancy

i came across this group recently. After I had watched a lot of April and fromis_9 mvs, YouTube was like hey yo check out loca and I liked what I heard!

from what I’ve heard from these two songs, favorite strays away from the more cutesy upbeat songs, bringing a cooler and stronger edge to their style. Again, something that is easier for me to get into.

Fromis_9 — love bomb

22century, miracle, dancing queen

so this is another group that tilli inspired me to listen to, and honestly I’m pleasantly surprised that I like their music.

i feel like fromis_9 gives off more of the stereotypical cutesy girl group vibes so I wouldn’t have thought I’d be into to music, but I’ll proudly say that I’d die for love bomb. It’s such a bop. The chorus got stuck in my head instantly.

as for the other songs, I think they’re just so fun and cute and pure like 22century girl makes I feel like a small child playing in a field full of flowers in spring. I just get like a pure feeling. It’s great.

(G)I-dle — latata

if y’all have actually read this whole blog by now I think you can understand why I like this one. Like their senior group 4minute, gidle gives off a very strong and empowered vibe through their debut song. The instrumental and melody is very strong.

Girls Generation — catch me if you can

it’s kinda hard to have a gg playlist blog without snsd. They’re so amazing. They’re actually really close to my heart because their mv ‘G’ was the second kpop mv I saw when I was younger and I was soooooo hooked.

as artists, they’re just totally iconic and huge stars. theyve tried a lot of different styles so I can’t always get into all of their music. but it’s hard to not enjoy at least one song from them.

taeyeon — I

I got love, fire, circus, why

i really enjoy taeyeon as an artist. I honestly just adore her songs and her voice. I find both of them very beautiful and soothing, most of them. She just has a sound that I really enjoy.

specifically, ‘I’ is one of the few songs I have on a designated pick-me-up playlist. I just find everything about it so moving and inspiring. It’s really peaceful and calming.

i wouldn’t necessarily say I follow her but if I find she has music out, I’m definitely going to see what’s going on.

hyo — sober

mystery, wannabe, punk right now

also being from the group snsd but yet still having a different vibe from taeyeon, I really enjoy hyo, or hyoyeon’s, music.

i think the vibes of her songs are just really fun and upbeat, and sometimes pretty powerful. Like you can listen to it and you’ll feel like the coolest person in the room.

ha:tfelt — I wander

as I’ve said above with taeyeon’s ‘i’, I have a specific playlist for songs I find calming and ha:tfelt’s ‘i wander’ also happens to be on it.

i don’t really know much about the artist but I do that I checked her out because a mv of hers some how had to do with German and that why I’m studying in school so I was instantly interested. Then I ended up really liking this song. It’s honestly a lowkey fave. It’s very really and relaxing.

Hoody — need u

as big as a khh and krnb and especially aomg fan that I claim to be, I really don’t have a lot of hoody songs on my playlist. I have a lot that she features on, but as far as he own songs go this is the only one.

this relates to the whole thing for me as I can’t get into female artists as easily so even tho I really like her label and her rnb style, I have a limited amount of songs that I like by her.

this song has a funky vibe, as usual for aomg, and it’s easy to just flow with.

Hyolyn — dally

i was addicted to this song as soon as it came out. With the beat by gray and the vocals by hyolyn, it’s hard not to love it. Not to mention that the dance is like “wow” like omg girl is out here killing her solo career. It’s just so much fun and you can’t help but go with the instrumental. It’s such an infectious song.

Hyuna — lip & hip

hyuna could slap me across the face and I’d say thank you. From 4minute to solo work to triple h, she’s always a pleasure to watch perform and sing, and her songs always so outstanding. She has never made a flop. With that saying being said, I wouldn’t say her style of music is my favorite or really even my style but her songs are always getting stuck in my head. She’s very hard not to love.

as much as I’d like to say that ‘very very very’ isn’t my style or is annoying, I can say it. It’s sooooo fun and catchy!!! Normally songs like these would drive me insane but there’s just something about the chorus; it literally forces me to dance along. It often pops on my head and I’m jaaaaming.

i did not follow ioi, I didn’t even really look into them until they had disbanded. I just knew people were really into their music and I wanted to know why. And now here I am, not being able to get their choruses out of my head.

Jennie — solo

so I’ve already stated, I’m a fan of blackpink. I’m also a fairly big fan of yg artists. Their beats are always party rock anthems and they go so hard core like yg artists are really here to make some killer jams (they do make some good ballads though).

as a song, I feel like it’s pretty freaking solid. When we Jennie releases more music, I’m definitely checking it out.

Jessi — down

gucci, boing, arrived

okay but actually, jessi is amazing.

shes so freaking cool and talented. I freaking love her voice, be it rapping or singing. It has this kind of raspiness to it. I’m like GET IT GIRL.

her songs always make me feel cool like ‘Gucci’ and ‘boing’, I’ll be out there dancing like there’s no tomorrow. And ‘down’, omg, it’s like the perfect summer bop. Jessi knows how to make the best jams.

Jimin Park — hopeless love

her voice is so freaking beautiful like why does no one talk about her. Whenever I first listened to ‘hopeless love’ i was like DANG GIRL OKAY. Her voice is so amazing strong. I love when she sings slower songs. It’s so pretty.

Lee hi — breathe

speaking of angels, this vocal queen and this absolutely amazing song. Like how can you even begin to explain the perfection that is this song and lee hi’s voice?? It has to be one of the most stunningly beautiful things I’ve ever heard.

she just singing it so well. It’s insane. It’s honestly impossible to not feel emotional while listening to this song. It’s outstanding.

mamamoo — mr ambiguous

egotistic, starry night, be calm, rude boy, paint me, you’re the best

i feel like mamamoo makes such fun and unique songs. Like you’re always in for a treat when they have a comeback. It could be literally anything and you’ll know it’ll be great because they’re just so talented.

i wouldn’t say they’re my type of music and I don’t really even listen to them enough but I enjoy their songs to have them on my playlist for periodic listenings.

Momoland — bboombboom

now, I begrudgingly added this song to my playlist lol. My girlfriend was (most likely still is) obsessed with this song. It definitely isn’t a song I enjoy listening to but it’s one of those songs that you just get stuck in your head and can’t get out. Also the chorus is freaking over powering. Like why does such a light hearted fun song gotta go so hard and get burned into my brain???

in all honesty, I would probably die for red velvet. They’re my favorite girl group and I do call myself a fan, as well as a lowkey stan. I get so much joy form their music. Their songs are always so good. Their vocals always perfect. Their dances always soooo fun. Not to mention, they’re lovely people.

i even saw them at kcon last year, an amazing time. I just love their blend of “red” happy and upbeat bops and “velvet” snazzy and slower rnb jams. They’re amazing. I love them.

Sistar — shake it

give it to me, I like that, touch my body

as you can see I never looked farther than sistar’s title tracks. I do enjoy these titles though. They’re all very fun and interesting in their own way. They’re also very hard to not dance to. Sistar did a really good job making quality music.

Subin — hate

kinda on the same as lee hi’s ‘breathe’, subin’s ‘hate’, is absolutely stunning and beautifully peaceful. This song is also on my pick-me-up/chill playlist. The slow piano and light vocals are just so soothing. I’m really happy I wandered upon this song. It’s very calming.

Sunmi — gashina

cause who wasn’t obsessed with song when it came out?? The break is really just something else. It’s such a strong song but sunmi is also able to show her beauty. she’s out here really killing the game, visually and vocally.

shes just such a unique artist who creates songs that perfectly express her and her capabilities. She’s great.

Suran — 1+1=0

i hope some of you know this song because it’s a bop. It’s very rnb which is great. The beats is very fun and snazzy. Suran’s voice has a nice contrast to the instrumental which I think makes it even more fun. Not to mention that dean features on this song. It’s some really good stuff.

okay so I forget that this song exists periodically and then it comes on shuffle and I’m like OH CRAP. I love the build of the instrumental and Tiffany’s voice. I feel like they go really well together.

it’s kind of an emo bop but it’s a bop none the less?? Like you could listen to it and your like yes, more please but you know it’s a sad song but it’s still hecka good??

tbh, I had no idea I had so many twice songs on my playlist. I’m actually surprised I like this many.

as a group, their sound isn’t one I’m in love with exactly but their songs are really good and they’re always ridiculously catchy, it’s hard not to have almost if not all of their title songs saved on my playlist.

in all honesty, I don’t even know if I have a most favorite twice song but I chose to highlight TT because it was the song that made me look into them more. I really like jyp, as both got7 and 2pm are my ub groups, so I always gotta keep my eye on twice and you really can’t avoid twice with how big they are. I enjoy their music nonetheless.
