Mental illness is a serious thing if you or someone you know is suffering please tell someone! Baby steps is key so even if the first person you tell is a friend, that’s a step.

I myself, struggle with “Bipolar Disorder” and “Severe Anxiety Disorder” but don’t let labels define you, because my “disorders” are not who I truly am.

However I do know a lot about mental illness from a scientific standpoint and a bias/personal standpoint.

If you struggle with a form of mental illness and it gets in the way, even if it’s just generalized anxiety, this is the post for you!

!!!However if you are sensitive to the topic please don’t read this, don’t make it worse for yourself!!!

Mental illness is a serious thing, don’t ignore it.

Don’t ignore the feelings you are having

Mental health ALWAYS comes first

But I know some ways that allow you to balance out your mental health and your school work

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST

If you are feeling down or too anxious there are a few things you can do

a. If you’re feeling anxious

• Make sure you are in a quiet room

• Do some quick meditation

• Maybe do some quick “self care” like a face mask

• Drink some tea

• Listen to music

• Set a reasonable plan

Don’t think this is you just procrastinating, anxiety is real.

b. If you’re feeling depressed

• Take at least 15 minutes to yourself before you start school work

• Set up a plan you can follow with plenty of breaks

• Listen to upbeat music

• Do self care that makes you feel comfortable such as washing your face or maybe even defusing essential oils, which I consider self care

SET UP A PLAN

Its best that you set up a plan whether you’re feeling depressed or anxious, as I mentioned

It may be helpful for you to take many breaks, but not for too long

Here is an example I have created:

2:30pm: Get home, get situated, snack

3:00pm: History homework

3:30pm: Break

3:45pm: Science notes

4:15pm: Break

4:30pm: Science notes

5:00pm: Break

5:15pm: English essay

DONT GIVE UP!

Trust me, I know it’s hard, but don’t give up! Push yourself (not too hard now) and set goals and go and achieve them! It will end in the way you want it to in the end, and you’ll feel a bit better.

MAKE A LIST OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS AND A LIST OF YOUR GOALS

Making a list of your achievements, even if they’re just from today and minor ones, can show you that you can do so much! That you have done so much and you can do so much more. It may even give you a push.

Next, write your goals whether they are large ones or what I suggest is small ones for then. Small ones allow you to feel more accomplished by the end of the day. Make sure you complete your goals for the day! Also make sure they are reasonable for you then.
