Hey ya'll! It's me once again coming with another watercolor work as it seems the best medium for me to use to express Studio Ghibli artwork. I won't delve too much into the detail of coloring cause it's primarily brown or heavy dark blue color.
As always the foreground is the most hard heavy work so I drew Chihiro first along with the wooden rest viewing area thing. Its hard to tell but from the 1st and 2nd image I did change the dimensions a bit to get the anatomy correct. Once that was done it was then to the 3rd image shown
Now this isnt much difficult either as the wood sketching was just perspectives. , if you can't get the angle right you can always align the pencil you're using to see the angle and sketch it down. Always go back and forth to make sure you got the correct angle.
Now for the 4th image. It was just slabbing the brown color evenly on the sides being lighted by the moon. A dash of white paint for other areas that are more slightly lit. And black combined with brown to get the darker spots not in direct exposure to the moon's light. Then moving to paint Chihiro(forgot to take a pic). Brown and dark brown is used again. The blue for her shirt you'll use in the ocean and clouds too so you want to keep that with ya! And for the pants, a nice dash or red with small amounts of pink to get the darker pink colors. And mixing some of that with black to get the darker pink shade.
For the shade of Chihiro was hard. Using the green, red and yellow was a hard combo to find including with the white. So with much trial and error I ended up using some skin tone color with the color pencil to get a decent approximation with it.
Finally the last image. The ocean you're going to use the same blue. Use a medium or smallish sizes brush to get the dark blue speak to the further right(further away from the moon) and use bigger wetter brushes to spread the dark blue paint to get lighter colors. Now with the famous train. A simple black paint and some dark pencils to get that black scale better. And a simple curved window in the back will do. You can use that same yellow on the dry on the blue water to show the light coming out and to trail behind the train. With the sky you use the pink color from Chihiro pants, the yellow from the train, and the dark blue and pure white. You'll go from darkest of the 4 colors to light as you go from the bottom to the upper right where again, the moons light is coming from.
And that'll it. Thanks for reading, I hope it helps with your watercolor journey. Have a beautiful morning, afternoon, or everning whereever you are!
