Summary

Before his parent's death, Lio was an optimistic boy. He loved to draw and paint, being encouraged by his parents to express himself through his art. He loved pokémon, becoming friends with the pokémon around his home. He loved to climb trees and swim. He was very happy-go-lucky. Lio was an easy child, never complaining or throwing fits. He rarely cried or caused his parents trouble. Lio was sneaky, always attempting to sneak outside to play in the woods.

When Lio was five, he visited his grandmother's house with his parents. There, he was introduced to feline pokémon and began to love them. He made friends with the feline pokémon, playing with them happily and learning how to care for them. Marnya was the reason he obtained a love for felines.

Post-death of his parents, Lio became a very quiet and despondent boy. He lost his joy and isolated himself from tne world. He was sent to live with his grandmother, though for a few years he had no spark. He was snappy, sad, and depressed. He swung between sadness and anger. He didn't eat to drink a lot, becoming unhealthy and at one point needing medical intervention. He attempted therapy for a short while when he was seven before he started refusing to attend.

At age eight, Lio began getting better mentally with the help of an orphaned Shinx. With the help of Shinx, Lio got better. He began to act like his old self. He started helping Marnya around more, he played with the feline pokémon more, and even helped with chores. He ran errands for Marnya and opened back up.

By eleven, Lio was back to being a very happy boy. He was chipper, joyful, and full of energy. He developed a love of battling, training with Shinx. He rediscovered his love of climbing trees and swimming. Overall, by eleven, Lio was optimistic and determined.

Lio is a selfless dreamer. He always tries to help others and listen to them. He dreams of a world without evil, and tries to see the best in people. He isn't afraid of confrontation; when he feels that something is wrong, he says something. He doesn't back down from a fight. He stands his ground and what he believes in.

Backstory

Lio was born in the Galar region in the town of Ballonlea. His parents were good, albeit quiet, people. They were both artists, always painting. They encouraged their son to draw and write in the walls and, because of this, Lio grew a knack for drawing and painting. He loved his parents very much and could never complain about them.

When Lio was five, he went his parents to visit his grandmother Marnya for the first time. She was a raiser of feline pokémon, raising all sorts of them. That was his first encounter with cat pokémon, and he fell in love with them. He befriended every cat pokémon in her care, playing with them. He was a sobbing mess when he had to leave.

A year later, when Lio was six, his parents ed away in an accident concerning a rampaging wild pokémon. He was devastated, becoming very quiet and isolated. He went to live his grandmother Marnya and, despite still loving feline pokémon, he took a long time to open back up. He was almost eight when he began getting his spunk back, rediscovering himself after meeting a Shinx who had also lost its parents a few days prior. After bonding with the little Shinx, both he and it became inseparable. Lio began really helping his grandmother around the house. He developed good bonds with all the cat pokémon in Marnya's care and helped future pokémon partners become comfortable around kids his age. By nine, he was almost just like how he was from before the ing of his parents.

When Lio turned ten, his grandmother asked him if he wanted to go on a journey. He was unsure, not wanting to leave the place he was most comfortable, but she encouraged him. A year later, when he was eleven, Lio met a trainer who had come to find her Sprigatito. He talked with her, listening to her talk about her experiences with her partner. He was amazed hearing her adventures and became a tad envious. Right then he decided to leave the comfort of the nursery and go on a journey. Lio asked if he could the Rising Volt Tacklers for a little while just to get him started.

Lio introduced himself to Friede and Cap and explained his desire and pleaded with him and everyone to let him and his Luxio (who evolved from Shinx a few months ago) to let him stay on board, even if just to the next town. Friede and Cap, being the kind souls they are, agreed to give him a lift. Lio was overjoyed! He quickly went and said goodbye to his grandmother who was ever so proud.

Luxio

Luxio is a level-headed but caring pokémon. It is protective of Marnya's nursery, its fellow feline pokémon, and of course Lio. It refuses to battle against feline pokémon and will walk away if it finds itself against one.

Lio met Luxio when it was orphaned and arrived at Marnya's nursery as a young Shinx. The two bonded over having their parents gone and been inseparable since. Luxio evolved when it was defending the nursery against a tricky Spidops.

Purrloin

Purrloin is a sly, crafty cat. It likes to steal and hoard people's things, thinking of it as a 'joke.' It always gives the things back but it always gets scolded. Despite that, it keeps stealing. It's also a fan of battling, looking up to Luxio greatly after it took Purrloin's attacks when they first met.

Purrloin was Lio's second ever pokémon. They met when it stole some donuts that Lio was helping Murdock bake. Lio and Luxio gave chase, following it far into the forest. They followed it to a sick Liepard, injured from battle. Purrloin was protective and attacked Lio and Luxio. Luxio refused to attack the Purrloin, but it didn't want Lio to be hurt, so Luxio took Purrloins attacks. Lio called for Mollie to come help the Liepard. Until she got there, Lio attempted to calm the Purrloin. Eventually it understood he only wanted to help. After Mollie and Chansey arrived, they all went to her clinic. Liepard took a few days to get better, but it eventually did. Purrloin was so greatful for Lio's help. Liepard finally went back to the forest after it felt all better but Purrloin was hesitantant to leave. Liepard understood and let Purrloin Lio's team.

Lio won an egg in a raffle. It took a while to hatch, but when it did, Lio was delighted to see that it was a Litten.

Sneasel

Lio battled a trainer and won the fight. Sneasel's trainer, a very cruel trainer, told Sneasel that it was useless and probably couldn't even defeat a Magikarp. The trainer abandoned Sneasel on the spot; Lio later came across the crying Sneasel. He and Luxio hunted down the trainer and gave them a what-for, but the trainer simply shrugged and moved on. Lio offered Sneasel a spot on his team, promising it that he'd help it reach its full potential.
