in my opinion, the best boy group discographies

hey guys so I’m back,

quicker    than     expected,    yes     but

thats only because I’ve been working

on this for a long time and I just wanted

to get it shared

so, this is possibly gonna be a series of

where I state my opinions. it‘ll include

a bunch of different things I think about

as a kpop fan. but this time I’m going to

be talking about boy groups who I think

have the best discography. i‘m basing

this off the fact that I have almost all of

the songs by these artists on my phone.

also artists with discographies that have

left the biggest impact on me, which I

will explain later. but for now,

lets get to it!

got7

fav song(s): fly, mayday, sign

as many of you probably know, got is my

ultimate bias group. I literally have every

all of their korean songs on my phone so

it’s no surprise that they have one of my

favorite discographies. I’ve even talked

about all of their korean songs in a past

blog. however what I did not talk about

in that blog as their japanese releases.

as a kpop fan, i don’t often like groups‘

japanese music. I don’t know if it’s how

they try to change   their sound for   a

different fan base or if I’m just too lazy

to look into them, but I often find that

when I do listen to japanese music by

kpop groups, i don’t like it. but for the

sake of this blog, i figured I’d check them

out as I love got7 and I should give all

their music a chance, and I was actually

pleasantly surprised because I ended up

liking      a       lot       of       their      songs.

i still   stand by liking got7‘s korean sound

over their japanese sound, as a lot of their

japanese songs are either really intense or

ballads, whereas sure got7 continues with

intensity   and   slower   songs    into   their

korean music, but most importantly for me,

they have a nice medium where   you’re

able to get fun and poppy songs like page

and more interesting slow build songs like

face. it’s this type of variety that i find so

intriguing by got7. they have experimented

with so many different sounds over the

years but regardless to the changes,   they

have been able to stay true to themselves

and have a color and sound of their own.

not a single got7 song sounds   like any

other kpop song. they really are their own

artist. I just find their music overall very

unique and for me in particular, perfect, as

their    songs    are    my    favorite    songs.

so out of 147 songs (I believe that’s how

many songs got7 has), I only don’t have 4

of them on my playlist. that means I listen

to 97.3% of their discography. I feel like

thats a lot, which is just a testament to

how much I love them and their music.

now you might be asking which songs I

don‘t    like    and    I    will    tell    you,   but

i don’t really have that amazing of a reason

for why I don’t like these songs other than,

there just not really a style that I enjoy:

over & over, never stop, love train,

laugh laugh laugh.

i feel like this one is kind of a give-in.

exo‘s discography is literally perfection.

their songs and overall sound is iconic

from    their   vocal   abilities to   just the

instrumental      beat    of     their    songs,

every exo album packs a punch of not

only hard   hitting   but    also   emotional

melodies. as   an   overall   listener, im a

huge fan   of   sm   artists‘   sounds   and

vibes   because    in   all   honesty,    even

though each group under sm goes for

slightly   different    vibes,     they’re     all

backed    up   by   interesting   rnb beats

and powerful vocals, and that kind of

style         is        just       so       addicting.

ive always liked exo‘s music, even before

i started stanning the group. but I fell in

love with their music with the release of

monster. I was obsessed with the song

instantly, and as soon as that song was

in my brain there was no going back.

i now have 99 songs of   theirs on my

phone.   I only don’t   have 11   of their

songs, which include: unfair, wait, 3.6.5,

with you, christmas day, falling for you

my   turn   to   cry,        falling   for   you,

what        I       want      for       christmas,

let    out    the    beast,          peter    pan

as far as these songs go, I can kinda

see a common point   that they all have

explaining   why I   don’t   like    them as

much as other exo songs.   all of them

seem to be slower songs, not   to say I

i     don’t   like   exo’s    more ballad type

songs,    as   I do   have   plenty   on   my

playlist but I think it’s how exo   handles

complicated    instrumentals   with   their

vocals    to    be   something so    unique

about    them. in the end, i have 90% of

their discography.

beast / highlight

fav song(s): lightless, yey, oh honey,

highlight, beautiful night

among the groups that I have listed

here,   i   think highlight   is   the   most

interesting as they’ve been around the

longest    and    regardless   of   all   the

changes they’ve gone through music-

ally or drama-wise, they’ve been able

to create such outstanding music. from

songs like fiction to plz don’t be sad

beast and highlight have blessed us

with so much good   music, showing

their colors   in   numerous ways. and

what I   personally find   so appealing

isnt necessarily their style of music but

their sound themselves. I   just adore

their   voices   and   how   they   all     fit

together   they   really    are    made   to

perform along side each other. each

member              is           indispensable.

now I have 72 songs of theirs on my

playlist, and I only don’t have 7 songs

from when they performed under the

name beast and 4 songs from when

they   perform   as   highlight.   I   don’t

really have an explanation for why I

don’t like these songs, off the top of

my head, but often, I don’t like songs

because their instrumental or vocals

don’t stand out as much as they do in

other songs.   regardless that doesn’t

mean a song is bad;   it just means it

isn’t a song for me. as for the songs

that   I   don’t   have,    here   they   are:

I’ll give you my all, oasis, how to love

tonight I’ll be at your side,   who am i

living without you, mastermind, wind

clenching a tight fist, a night like this

and the beginning. in the end, i have

84.7% of their discography

now I don‘t really know how to describe

winner. out of all the yg groups I feel

that. they   have their   own style. they

often break away from the classic club

bops such as bang bang bang and any

blackpink   title    song.   don’t   get me

wrong I enjoy those songs too, but for

me there’s just something about their

sound that stands out from their label

mates and even a   lot of other kpop

groups. they’re able to express a vast

variety of sounds, absolutely mastering

the   summer   jams   with   island   and

love me love me. along with   showing

their more emotional side with   fool,

and then everything in between with

their   side tracks which are   the real

hidden     jems     of    winner‘s     music.

so compared to the other groups I’ve

talked about, winner doesn’t have as

large of a discography. they only have

about 38 songs which is at least half

of   the   amount   of songs   the   other

groups have. however, I still love   this

small discography. In fact, I enjoy their

music so much that I only do not have

one   of   their   songs: first love 2019.

i really like winner’s music and I think

my   feelings    speak   for    themselves

since I have 97.4% of their discography

saved.

who have amazing discographies as

well, I just   wanted   to highlight my

absolute favorites. however there are

some pretty solid honorable mentions

in conclusion,

there are plenty of talented groups

with amazing music but the ones

listed above are the ones I think

have    the    best    over    all   song

collection. If you don’t know some

of the groups or songs mentioned,

I     would     greatly      recommend

looking into them. but other than

that this is the end of my   blog.
