hello everyone!

i am certainly back on track with the only-posting-applications train with this one, but this time, it's to (hopefully 🤞) become a curator! i'm so excited, so i'll get straight into it!

part one; the personal stuff

name and pronouns

my current preferred name is aya, and i use she/her pronouns. however, i also accept they/them for those who are unsure :relaxed:

at the time of making this application, i am 19 years old.

tell us about yourself.

i am a child of jupiter, a griffindor, an editor, and a fan of quite a few small and obscure mid 2000s to mid 2010s cbbc shows, as well as a few other things.

i've been helping out in this amino since 2018 as a muse, and i have not regretted it. i am very dedicated to the job; scrolling through the latest feed multiple times a day to ensure there are no stragglers, and i promise to bring that dedication to the curator position.

i got into the pjo fandom through an irl friend, who was reading the series. they recommended the series greatly, so i decided to read it to understand the hype, and instantly got hooked into the series, reading all of the books within the year, and continuing to read each new book when it got released.

i was already a of amino in general by the time i got into the pjo fandom in 2017. hba is one of the aminos i have been a member of the longest.

as opposed to any leadership experience; i have been a mod of the mcu amino since 2017, and as of 2020, the agent.

why should we consider you?

as i mentioned above, i am very much dedicated to the job. i know the rules of the amino, and i follow them. i've even reported some content that violates the [Guidelines] directly to mods via the muse chat. if i am chosen for this position, i will do whatever it takes to ensure that i have earned it.

how did you find out about the Riordanverse and what would you say is your “area of expertise”?

also mentioned above, i got into the riordanverse through an irl friend, and i consider myself more specialised in the greco-roman pantheons. however, i do have a basic understanding of the norse and egyptian pantheons.

what is your opinion about the current moderation team?

i find that the current mod team is doing amazing at their jobs. the amount of hate that i get as a muse can put me off at times, so i can only imagine what a mod has to face.

i've worked with most of the current staff before, either as a muse, centurion, or in groups, so i feel like i know the mods well enough to call most of them (if not all) friends.

finally, what do you think being a Curator would mean?

being a curator means giving back to, and serving, the community. it means keeping calm under pressure in the face of adversity. it means being skilled with words, and the willpower to remain neutral.

part two; moderation skills

what could the team do to augment s' experience in the community? (no changes that TA would need to implement please)

interacting with newer and encouraging activity would be one thing, though how to do so without scaring people off is a bit of a challenge.

as opposed to rules, maybe ensuring that art credit is easily readable and/or clickable (muse in me talking), maybe even doing something more about the various spammy posts lurking in the feed.

public chats

i'm not really someone who uses public chats, unless it's part of an event or i need to be in it out of necessity.

the moderation of public chats is a lot more difficult than other forms of content, considering how fast-paced a chat can be - however, i'm sure i can manage if i put in the effort.

an off topic chat is just like any other off topic content - content that is not related to the riordanverse.

what would you feature?

i would feature blogs, of all kinds whether they're art, fics, poems, edits, challenges, opinion pieces, etc, that clearly show effort has been put into it, that follows the guidelines, and fits in the criteria of the how to get featured wiki. hard work is deserving of reward.

what wouldn’t you feature?

what i wouldn't feature are posts with minimal effort, nor blogs that violate any guidelines, nor generic posts that are seen often (like "who's your favourite character" polls).

how would you resolve a fight between s?

how a fight could be resolved really depends on what is being fought about. but most of the time, it's best for those fighting to be able to find a middle ground; if that means blocking each other in order to move on, or even leaving the amino, then so be it. if i where referred to an ongoing fight, i will remain neutral and focus only on the facts of the argument.

if at any point there is content that violates the [Guidelines], i'll disable it as soon as i see it.

if there is any action that needs to happen (official warnings, strikes, bans, other things only a leader can do), then i'll a leader that is online to help out.

a is posting a lot of irrelevant content. How do you handle this?

disable the irrelevant content and let the know, referring them to the posts disabled without warning wiki. depending on the amount of irrelevant content and the severity, i may or may not ask a leader to give the an official warning or strike.

a has a very overpowered oc or a favorite that breaks canon limits. What would you do?

disable the wiki and let the know why, referring them to the oc guidelines for them to look through, and then keep an eye out for when the content fits the guidelines.

a comes to you with a personal issue. how would you handle it?

unless the personal issue is violating guidelines or causing unnecessary drama, it's none of my business.

though i am currently training irl to be a social worker, i'm not a therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist, and the best i can do is refer the to a professional to get the help they need.

a member of the community comes to you with a complaint, be it a fight with a friend of theirs, a bot or bullying. how do you handle the situation?

if a gives me a complaint, i'll thank them for their and refer it to the rest of the staff, and keep the updated about the discussion.

if a comes to me about a fight, i will ask them for evidence of the fight (ie screenshots) and the link to the person. i'll then act as a mediator between the two in hopes of resolving the situation.

if a comes to me about a bot, i'll ask them to flag it in a way that the flag goes to team amino, and then ask a leader to ban the bot.

if a comes to me about bullying, i'll ask the to flag the content as such, disable any of the bullying content, and ask the to block the bully.

a is angry because you have disabled one of their posts. how do you handle this?

stay calm and professional, and keep repeating the reason why it was disabled. if they get too abusive, i'll let a leader know.

has reported that they are being bullied. How do you handle this?

as mentioned above; ask the to flag and block the bully/content that contains bullying, and disable any bullying content.

a starts to post inappropriate content in public chats and then pms you with degrading words. they also start spamming. what would you do?

the first thing to do is disable any inappropriate content and spam, and hide their profile. it is unlikely that someone like this will listen to me, so it will be best to talk to a leader about the person.

a is constantly spamming chats and is showing inappropriate behavior towards other s. When you try to intervene and diffuse the situation, the targets you as well. What will be the best action in this situation?

disable all content i can that violates the [Guidelines], ensure the other s are alright, and talk to a leader.

i am quite happy in my position as a muse. as a result, i won't fill in this part :)
