When I came out, I was 14 years old. It was the summer that I was staying with my aunt on her big cattle farm. She was very drunk and it was like 3am when I told her but it was one of the best nights of my life. She was talking about how if her kids were gay or trans she would and love them no matter what because it’s not something you choose, it’s just how you were born. After she said that I knew it was a safe space for me to come out as queer. It was a very special moment for me because no one has ever been that ive of me and she truly does love me no matter what. My mom is homophobic and transphobic so just finally having that person that just understands was a great feeling.
