The Beloved is a creature born from the despair of the unloved, whether that be by family, friends, or spouses, it wanders the realms, seeking out those who are in need of help, or those who need to be punished for their actions.

The Beloved goes by many names, its most common one being… The Beloved… obviously, but it also goes by Mary, or The Judge.

The Beloved has two forms, one light, and one dark, she senses where the afflicted parties are, and appear to them in the form respective of their actions, if someone loves their partner, she’ll appear in her Mercy form, a petite girl with smooth, alabaster skin, impossibly long blonde hair, warm lilac eyes, and a kind smile on her face. But, if they don’t love their partner, she’ll appear in her Cruel form, a twisted mockery of human appearance, with black hair that hangs above her shoulders, two spiralled horns emerging from her hair, and a form wreathed in shadows, with only her two, scarlet eyes peering into your soul.

Physiology

As previously stated, The Beloved has two forms, Mercy, and Cruel.

The Beloved’s Mercy form stands at 5’6, her form lithe, here nails are manicured yet sharp. When she’s deciding whether the person before her is guilty or not, her lilac eyes swirl like a kaleidoscopic vortex. Though she only appears in a white dress, her body is extremely durable, able to withstand most of not all gunfire, and melee attacks.

The Beloved’s Cruel form, stands two inches taller than its Light counterpart, at 5’8, it’s form still lithe, which belies the immense strength that lies beneath, its hands and forearms have shifted from their delicate, graceful form, to chitinous, elongated, claws. The Beloved’s attire also shifts dramatically, changing from the flowing white dress, to a black, strapless, cropped top, with detached cuffs which resemble sleeves, and a black miniskirt with eldritch symbols around the hem. It has a tattoo on its stomach, another eldritch symbol, which it can use to store the souls of its victims, for later consumption.

Abilities

Enhanced Physiology

The Beloved’s body is enhanced entirely. Its senses, strength, durability, endurance, and speed is beyond regular human capabilities.Though while in its Mercy form it doesn’t use the majority of its strength.

Wing Manifestation

The Beloved is able to sprout wings, which vary in appearance depending on which form it is taking. While in its Mercy form, The Beloved’s wings are pure white, angel-like wings, which have the unique ability to calm the soul, and any plagues which assault it, whether that be physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. Whereas, the Cruel form’s wings are made from pure white bone, the skeletal structure symbolising the death of love, the bones in these wings can detach and be used as weapons or thrown as darts.

Judgement

This ability is usable by both of The Beloved’s forms, is it how it defines which form it shall appear as. The Beloved looks into the heart and mind of its potential victims, searching for whether they’ve been hurt by a loved one, or if they’ve been the one to deliver the hurt.

Corrupted Blessing

The Beloved is able to give a “blessing”, though based on which form it’s in, that word is… debatable. While in its Mercy form, The Beloved’s blessing, grants the blessed clarity, that they can survive on their own, that the love they chased with such ion, can be found again, and this time, will be returned in kind. Meanwhile, The Beloved’s Cruel blessing, is more like a curse, that the afflicted will never know love again, that everyone that was once on their side, shall turn on them and revile the cursed individual’s existence.

Heal and Rot

I think by this point you can guess which ability belongs to which form, Heal lets the Mercy form heal physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual damage, while Rot does the opposite, rotting away the health, will, and sanity of the target.

Shade

Shade is a Cruel form exclusive ability, which allows the Beloved to control shadows, forming weapons, shields, and even modes of transportation, such as travelling through shadows, or creating creatures it can ride on.

Lullaby

Lullaby is a Mercy exclusive ability, which allows The Beloved to lull its target into a blissful sleep, warding off night terrors, and replacing them with sweet dreams of happier times and of accomplishing their dreams.

The Divide.

This ability, is strange, it’s reserved for those who don’t fit into either category of harmed or harmer. The Divide causes The Beloved to merge its two forms into one, almost split down the middle, with its left side being Mercy, and its right being Cruel, though the lilac eyes of Mercy are on Cruel’s side, and the scarlet eyes of Cruel are on Mercy’s. While in this form, The Beloved can use all of its abilities, though, the actions of the target will determine which path The Beloved takes, mercy… or cruelty.
