hi :tropical_fish:
here's a wiki when you can watch my mermay drawings. I use markers, colored pencils, fineliners and gel pens in an A5 sketchbook. I'm using references to draw these poses since I'm not the most confident in my skills.
EDIT:
by references I mostly mean photos of humans with different poses so I can help myself draw these better. I'm not as advanced to do that without that help. I get my references from Pinterest, where I save all of them on my board called "reference" (I'm "wervuio" there as well) so you can always check these out.
you can also see my works over on my instagram (@wervuio_)
disclaimer: I have no idea how to make wikis so sorry if there are any problems
mermay spread

it's rather simple and plain. I'm following the prompt list made by @tombancroft on instagram and here I'm marking ny progress. different symbols mean different things:
· "tick" is when I finish a drawing
· insta is when I post it on instagram
· insta with dotted line is when I share it on my instastories
· ghost is when I share it on snapchat.
day one #extravagant

I had no idea what I'm supposed to do so I drew a weird looking mermaid with crazy colours.
day two #rascal

my current favourite drawing. I know it didn't match the theme but again, I didn't know what to do. I was inspired by @timidite.art over on instagram.
day three #rockabilly

her neck gives me a bit of anxiety but well, I used a reference so I guess it's not entirely my fault?
day four #starwars

tbh I didn't watch any of the movies or anything and my friend told me the name of one of the races and I tried to make it into a mermaid. for references I looked at some of the races in star wars just to be a little accurate.
day five #cincodemayo

my creativity stops but you can see more pencils used I guess. she was supposed tp hold a taco but I gave up.
day six #tacotuesday

it's monday where I live but well. these prompts are weird and I'm waiting for something magical.
day seven #aquabat

I feel like it's unfair to put two photos but I wanted to show the sparkle :v
so my research showed that aquabat is a band (please forgive me if I'm wrong I've never heard of them) and a motorboat but i really wanted to to something unnatural. and I did and aquatic bat :v I researched some photos of bat wings to make her resemble a bat a little more.
day eight #squid

I had fun with her tail and I'm glad I choose one of my favourite colour combos for her.
day nine #frenchbagette

I was a little sick and couldn't do better. also, my camera hates my sketches :v
day ten #tropical

forget what I said about the rascal one. t h i s is the drawing that finally made me feel proud of myself and more confident in my skills.
it isn't the most tropical, but I've seen some fishes with similar tail and fins so there's the inspo I guess :v
day eleven #stretch

honestly I was too lazy to try and shade her properly :v
day twelve #mothersday

I get that it isn't the most mother's-day-ish drawing, but I wanted to do something different and I added flowers reminiscent of my mom's favourite
and gold shiny watercolour too
day thirteen #monday

I'm tired
so you can see I did 12 and a half mermaids (you know, the last one is just bad in my opinion so it's only a half). I wish I did more of them but some things came up and I had to take a break. I'm still glad I did more than ten :v

Well done! Is it correct that you completed 13 mermaids for MerMay? Good job!
Please credit the art work that you referenced, to comply with the [Guidelines]

thanks  yes I did only 13 (well, the last one isn't really good to me so I'd say I did 12 and a half) due to my laziness and being sick.
what should I credit? I didn't really used any artwork to help me, only random photos with different poses (to help me draw the "human" parts, I almost always use references, I'm not that advanced yet) I found on pinterest which I don't know the authors of. or maybe I forgot something, just could you be more clear? I'd like to give credit where I can.

If you only used pose references then it’s ok!

I edited the post (I ed than with one of them I was inspired by an instagram ) and put a disclaimer that I used the poses so it should be ok I guess
This is amazing! The tropical one- - :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
Those look super awesome 🤩 :heartpulse: :+1:
I like mermay
What markers do you use?
Reply to: Dorte
I mix many brands and I don't exactly which markers were used where (unless I swatched them on the drawing)
I own graph'IT (bullet nib ones), kuretake ZIG fine&brush for manga, winsor&newton promarkers and brushmarkers
for the skin I mostly use the graph'ITs because I have the most skin-like colours from this brand
