My coming out story. Let me tell you, it was not good. First, my family is Central American and many of them are very religious and strict. I was in a relationship with a girl and about a month later there were news reports all over about the Pulse shooting. Whenever sexuality topics came up I would of course ask my family if they would accept me. They always said yes but it was a lie. I just told them because I didn’t want to hide the secret from them anymore and it made them very upset. I never lived with my mother and my father walked out on me so I lived with my grandmother. She said I was disgusting for liking the same gender. My mother literally said to me she didn’t love me anymore and didn’t want to deal with me. My family sees me being bi as a disappointment and an embarrassment. That I should be ashamed and keep it a secret. Of course this happened a while back, they don’t bring it up anymore. Except my grandmother, she is definitely the person encouraging me the most and would help me go out on dates with my ex girlfriend.
